High clouds and smoke from a distant forest fire disperse over the mojave desert, diffusing the sinking sunlight into a brilliant hue. Like others in this series, this image, like a painting, carries an emotional impact of its own, apart from any reference to reality. But close inspection will reveal that it is simply composed of the familiar elements of cloud and sun, seen a different way.
